A View From The Back of A Camel...of a Sort

I just returned from a pre-dawn hike and climb up Camelback Mountain to catch the sunrise. It was a great climb with the reward of a specatacular view from the summit. The skies were almost entirely clear and before sunrise the I was able to watch the procession of Saturn, Jupiter, Mars and Venus around the crescent moon. Below me was spread out the sea of lights that is the Phoenix metropolitan area, stretching out in all directions until shrouded by the morning mists gathering at the base of the mountains, or swallowed up by the darkness of the uninhabited patches of desert at the fringes of civilization. Dawn broke with just enough clouds to be illuminated in the glowing pallet of colors so typical of a desert sunrise. It was truly an awe-inspiring moment and I must admit that I am a bit melancholy knowing that this morning will result in yet more time being deducted from my time spent in heaven;-)
